Has your artwork ever pulled its weight around your home? I am interested in architectural ornament: its history, transformative powers, and capacity to deliver pleasure, transfer knowledge and forge a closer relationship between subject and space, while also being closely interlinked with craftsmanship.
The latter is why neither cast nor CAD would do, and I had to hand-build these corbels to produce a deeper understanding of many traditional formal choices.
Rejecting Modernism’s cancellation of ornament, I dove into a playful material exploration through the various interactions of glaze chemistry, clay and gravity.
