About the Artwork
‘They told me it was out there’ traces the lingering remnants of Cheapside’s history as a site of exchange. A constellation of ethereal plastic bags drift in a perpetual loop, their forms wavering between flesh, ash and commodity.
Drawing on Ramin Bahrani’s Plastic Bag, the work speculates on the afterlives of hyperobjects - materials that exceed human timeframes, slipping between presence and disappearance while continuing to structure the environments they inhabit.
