About the Artwork

‘Isle’ is a series of collages inspired by the incredible interior of a London 17th Century house. Once an opulent residence with a collection of Dutch master paintings, the traces of its history can be seen on the walls and floors of the house. Inspired by remaining architectural detail, and imagining the lost ones, ‘Isle’ uses profiles of mouldings cut from vintage magazines to make reference to the global trade connections, and environmental impacts of these partnerships that the residents benefitted from, including trade with East India Company.
