About the Artwork

Silicone Valley is a 1:1 silicone and steel sculpture that reimagines the mechanics of the loom as a collaborative bodily apparatus. It draws from the ergonomics of gym equipment, industrial weaving systems, and domestic furniture. The work requires two bodies to generate rhythm and regulate tension through shared movement, whilst activating the space in real time.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Chantelle Chong is a Singaporean-born spatial designer and MA Architecture student at the Royal College of Art. Working
across silicone, latex, and steel, she produces installations, drawings, films, and objects that examine self-surveillance and the soft boundaries of the body through a cyberfeminist lens. Treating the posthuman body as both structure and interface, her practice explores how identity is constructed through material and spatial systems. Her sculpture 'Second Skin' has been exhibited at BASE Milano during Milan Design Week 2025 and at the Saatchi Gallery through ArtEvol 2025.
