About the Artwork

I would like to submit this work to showcase a more affordable series of small sculptures from 'Crustose'. This series explores future architectures as a hybrid organism, imagining a symbiotic relationship between humans and nature. 'Crustose' is a habit of some types of algae and lichens which attach themselves to substrates of many type. They can grow in unexpected and seemingly uninhabitable places, latching onto hard surfaces such as rocks, tree bark, brick, stone, car windows, roof tiles and concrete, forming a biological layer which can adapt to new sediments created in the Anthropocene.
