About the Artwork

This work is very seasonal, observing moments and places around her and their vibe. Her inspiration comes from cycling across East London, on the way to the studio or allotment. This painting captures the feeling of a midsummer’s evening buzzing with heat, the plants blazing and bristling in the hot evening sun beside the cool canal towpath. Her fresh and loose painting style echoes the energy in nature, she works in oil either on linen or paper.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Anna Harding is an artist working in painting, drawing, and video. She studied History and History of Art at UCL and trained as a contemporary art museum curator in the USA. She has worked as a curator at institutions like Kettle's Yard and Goldsmiths. She co-curated Free Art School E20 at Hypha Studios. She is currently exhibiting in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and 100/50 at Unit 1 Gallery.
