About the Artwork

The painting is inspired by the myth of Hou Yi, the archer who shot down eight scorching suns to save the earth. His act of courage reshaped the world and allowed life to continue. I believe we’ve inherited this same impulse — to change the world. But now, in our era of endless transformation and intervention, I sometimes wonder: have we gone too far in reshaping the world? I imagined a scene where multiple suns still hang in the sky, yet rivers flow and life thrives — a world shaped not by force, but by harmony.
