About the Artwork

Enclosure shows a pond with a lone, reflective figure, while the tall, looming trees give the scene a quiet intensity. The landscape is loosely inspired by Hieronymus Bosch’s panoramic settings, where small, scattered details invite closer looking across a wide space. The painting also draws from the myth of Narcissus, not in a literal sense, but as a way to invite the viewer to see their own thoughts and memories reflected in the surface. There’s a sense of ambiguity in both the palette and composition—not to confuse, but to leave space open for personal reflection.
