About the Artwork
'It Stayed With Me' responds to the disorientation of migration - the experience of building a life that is not home. When I moved to London, distance became something physical: a language to relearn, a culture to navigate. The work grew from intimate conversations with others who had also left home. The outcome is a layered textile piece inspired by comfort/discomfort, softness/weight, protection/exposure. The analogue lies in the process and subject-matter. Stitching, screen-printing and tactile surfaces hold memory in ways the digital cannot.
