About the Artwork

‘What are the roots that clutch, what branches grow out of this stony rubbish?’ From ‘The Waste Land’ by T.S. Eliot. I found this discarded canvas already in a dull and cracked grey paint which reminded me of pavement, of smog and of decay. Tree stumps are headless figures; embodiments of disruption. They are relics of ruin but also places of protection. Their liminal remains become sculptural sites of regeneration. My work explores uncertainty and adaptation. Originally from California, memories of home are shaped by a shifting landscape, and trees tell a story of steady resilience.
