About the Artwork

Royalty II is a sculpture depicting an enlarged embroidered baseball cap. It forms part of a larger body of work called New Neo Classics, where contemporary apparel meets classical sculptural expressions. The work explores the arch between antiquity and present-day forms. Being 4 times larger than life, and using analogue forms of enlargement, the details of the fabric are highly accentuated, emphasising the larger-than-life messaging of the object itself.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Katja Larsson (b. 1987) is a Swedish artist based in London. She graduated from The Slade School of Fine Art (MFA) and The Glasgow School of Art (BA). She was selected for the Saatchi New Sensations award in 2013. She has exhibited at The Armory Show and Malmö Konstmuseum. She has received awards from The Swedish Arts Grants Committee and Arts Council England. Her permanent public works are in Sweden and Scotland.
