About the Artwork

Cast in silicone bronze, Talisman began its journey as hag stones discovered on coastal walks. I transformed these naturally holed stones into wax reproductions, which then informed a maquette, ultimately leading to the final sculpture through 3D scanning and a larger cast in silicone bronze.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Gus Farnes (b. 1984) studied fine art at the Norwich School of Art & Design. He has exhibited his work in solo and group shows, including at Sotheby's and Thompson's Gallery London. His recent work, Stele, was featured on Exhibition Road for the Kensington + Chelsea public art trail in 2024 and garnered press attention from Londonist and Getty Images.
