About the Artwork
A young child, dressed in contemporary casual clothing, gazes at the viewer while reaching out to touch a towering Chinese vase which also features prehistoric imagery, blurring the boundaries between history and mythology. Two flowers: a freesia, its petals revealing the profiles of adult faces, and a daisy that stares directly ahead, its centre resembling a sun clock, marking time’s passage. A pterodactyl looms overhead, its presence both ominous and awe-inspiring. The work resists a singular interpretation, inviting viewers to explore themes of time, memory, and the intersections of past and present.
