Enigma 001 arises from fragmented personal memory, capturing a scene suspended at the edge of perception. Luminous chandeliers flicker between presence and dissolution, their glow deepening the surrounding void rather than clarifying it. Once symbols of power and ritual, they now exist in flux, mirroring how memory both reveals and obscures self-understanding. This liminal space blurs reality and imagination, where ornament becomes illusion and darkness gains presence. The work invites viewers into a shifting architecture of perception, asking not only what is seen, but what remains—unspoken—echoing the quiet, elusive traces of identity shaped by memory.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Maxim Frolov (b. 1990, Saratov, Russia) is a London-based artist who studied at the Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design. His solo exhibition, 'NEW ERA/NEW TRIBE', took place at Blind Spot Gallery in St. Petersburg in 2022. He has participated in selected exhibitions in Russia and a 2025 biennial in Denmark. He received an award for 'Subcultural Landscape Part II' at the Baron Stieglitz Museum. His work was also featured in the PORT ART FAIR in 2023.
