About the Artwork

Far and Near of Things' is part of a series exploring the diasporic experience of close looking from a distance. Using nature as a metaphor, the work investigates the complex relationship between being and place. Dominating the composition are extreme close-up of drifting seedheads, dramatically enlarged to reveal the nuanced details within each form. Viewed through a diasporic lens, the work reflects the intertwined experience of belonging and longing, revealing a paradox marked by physical distance and emotional attachment.
