About the Artwork
Nightlife II is part of an ongoing photographic series taken within the parameters of Culver’s garden. Marks in clay soil and wax are layered through a process that collapses time and explores alternative methods of recording. Moving through the space as a low-bodied creature, Culver transforms the act of image-making into an embodied encounter, where the body crawls, presses, and observes from new proximities. The garden shifts into an active collaborator that’s alive and responsive. Through this, Nightlife II invites reflection on intimacy, perception, and the porous relationship between body and environment.
