About the Artwork

Lips curled, teeth bared, flesh blending and resisting at once. Behind them, a red backdrop flares with fire like forms, tongues, petals, or wounds radiating heat and pressure in a tight warm space. Faces slip between tenderness and aggression, beauty and monstrosity, both balancing a fine line which could tip at any moment. Teeth grating expresses internal resistance, suppressed rage, the unbearable friction between closeness and pain.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jade Gaskin (b. 1994) is a London-based painter. She graduated from Hair Make-up and Prosthetics from London College of Fashion and The Essential School Of Painting in 2025. Her upcoming shows include a co-curated show at Hypha Studios, a duo show at Mandy Zhang Gallery, and the Royal Academy Summer Show 25. She has also been selected for Blue Shop Cottage – Works on Paper 6.
