About the Artwork

'A Piper's Dream' is a water jug build from hollow tubes of different sizes. The shape creates an illusion of a vessel with a handle, which body is an assemblage of hollow pipes. It is an analogue construction of similar modular parts that build a continuum which is in effect an impossibility. The irony of the container that cannot hold water is at the core of this humorous work aiming to lay bare the pointless aim of a seamless perfection in our digital age.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Stathis Dimitriadis (b.1971, Greece) studied Chemical Engineering and trained as a ceramicist in Athens before continuing with an MA in Fine Arts at the Cass Faculty of Art, London Met.
He was a finalist for the Royal Society of Sculptors Public Art Award 2015, the National Sculpture Prize 2016 and the Ashurst Emerging Artist Prize 2016. His work was included in ceramic Biennials and public collections in Portugal, Spain, Austria, Germany and Romania.
Recent exhibition include the London Group Open 2023 and the ING Discerning Eye 2023. He is a member of the London Group and the Royal Society of Sculptors.
