About the Artwork

Articulating the sensation of experiences has been a long running thread in my practice. First in response to dominance of conceptual work and now in response to the rise of the digital world view. This work refers to the feeling of finding your keys down the back of the sofa, where they have been for some time. 
I was curious to see if I could make sculptural works in the same way that I made live-performance, starting with a scenario or situation and an embodied feeling rather than a visual reference image.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Alexis Zelda Stevens (b. 1982, Isle of Wight) presents work in public spaces, blending dance, live-performance, sculpture, video and immersive installation. Awarded a first class BA Hons from Falmouth School of Art and a CertHE in Dance Performance from Birkbeck. Her work was 'Pick of the Week' in the Guardian and in British Archaeology Magazine. She won a SET Woolwich Studio Prize, and was shortlisted for the Spike Island Graduate Fellowship. Funded by Jerwood, a-n and Arts Council England. A taste maker for art in unusual places, she’s curated 20 commissions for Green Man and is Guest Curator for Videoclub.
