3D-printed bio-composite PLA made with recycled coffee grounds, LED light

Regular price £5,500.00
About the Artwork

ORBIT reimagines the lantern as a contemporary light sculpture, connecting memories of illuminated streets, temples and festivals in Taiwan with the everyday café culture of London. Its modular forms are 3D-printed from a bio-composite incorporating reclaimed coffee grounds, transforming the residue of a daily ritual into a glowing structure.
Arranged around a shared vertical axis, the rounded volumes evoke both the repetition of lanterns and objects in orbit. When illuminated, the earthy material becomes warm and translucent, shifting between solidity and lightness.
The work explores how familiar rituals and discarded materials can carry cultural memory across different places. Sitting between functional lighting, sculpture and material research, ORBIT reflects an ongoing interest in how objects can connect everyday life, identity and new modes of making.

Please note that the two lamps are sold separately. The price listed is for the smaller piece. For further pricing and inquiries, please get in touch.
