About the Artwork

Flume Vol. 2 is part of an ongoing series that uses experimental techniques mirroring the cyclical, generative process of fountains. Built through repeated acts of application, removal, and glazing, the painting develops through shifting layers. The compositional and visual rhythms in my work have become a personal metaphor for cycles of tension and growth in my own life: periods of intensity give way to stillness, echoing the push and pull of transformation. The space within the painting remains deliberately ambiguous, representing both an internal emotional terrain and an external, elemental landscape—reflecting how change moves through and around us simultaneously.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jess Power (b. 1993, London) is a London-based artist. She studied at The University of Brighton and was awarded The Freelands Foundation Painting Fellowship (2020). Her first solo show, Halftime, was in 2021. She has been shown with galleries including Guts Gallery and The Galaxy Museum of Contemporary Art in China. Her work is held in private and public collections internationally, and Slim Volume Press recently published UFO's, a book dedicated to her work.
