About the Artwork

‘That’s the Way Things Go’, 2025 explores the absurdity in the mundane. Entangled messy long linear forms, cast in pigmented jesmonite, de-mobilise a coat hanger that is disrupted from its normal hanging and composition. The work suggests the moment of entering into a private home, hanging your coats and playing a part in a social setting that is potentially upturned and unplanned. The narrative perhaps implies navigating surprising social events were nothing is how it seems and how you might envisage.
