About the Artwork
On This Ice is a painting about nostalgia, of standing on the unstable foundation of memory, of looking back yet moving forward, the figure is passing through a landscape they are not there to stay, we can never stay in one place. Like music which exposes the pattern of time, painting corresponds by exposing the pliancy space. You can experience time through the passage of sound, you can comprehend space through relational form. Painted exclusively to ambient techno, I see a melodic resonance translated in the painting through the coming together and simultaneous disintegration of brush work, like the layered texture of beat, tone, melody the foreground and background refuse to differentiate.
