About the Artwork

TYPEFACE reflects on the artists personal experience with prolonged periods of screen time inducing blurry vision, twitching eyes and insomnia. The work uses distance to explore clarity in the image where the face is clear from far away but looses clarity when we move closer. In those periods of screen exhaustion the artist reflects on looking into the mirror at her sunken red eyes not being able to see herself clearly.

The work is hung using a Z clip system. One of the clips is attached to the back of the work and the other needs to be screwed into the wall. The work then hangs in place with these clips.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Lucy Ellis (born 13th January 2001) is a London-based artist whose practice merges fine art and creative computing to explore material transformation and image-making. She graduated with First Class Honours in BA Fine Art with Creative Computing from Central St Martins in 2024, also completing the CCI Diploma in 2023 and a Foundation in Fine Art at Central St Martins. Ellis was the inaugural winner of the DAZED X Rabanne Arts Factory in 2024, exhibiting at Art Basel Miami. She was selected for Arebyte's Hotel Generation 2025 and featured in Iconoclast Magazine, It's Nice That, DAZED 100, and Labocine.

Hypha Studios Artist: Exhibited with the Palace Cinema Arts Collective in "The Transfiguration of Matter", curated by Yarden Fudim.
