About the Artwork
The large central dent dominates the work, creating a concavity that draws the eye towards its centre. Formed through a aggressive act of force, the surface appears soft in its final state. The act of violence produces a form that feels calm, almost yielding. The compressed material enters another state, where its physical hardness no longer dictates its presence. The material no longer performs the qualities expected of it, existing instead between solidity and pliability.
