About the Artwork

An edition of 40, The Alcoholic's Tarot subverts the classic Rider-Waite-Smith design to deliver alcoholic misfortune tellings. Based on a three-year research project with over 100 people in and out of recovery, artist Leon Clowes created a nuanced performance-exchange artwork on addiction. The work has drawn hour-long queues at SUPERNORMAL, Brighton Fringe, and Ugly Duck Gallery.
