About the Artwork

The piece incorporates a couple of recurring things in my work, firstly the violinist busker, partly inspired by the book 'Lev's Violin', but also to do with my synesthesia. I like the idea of these musicians that float through time and place, soundtracking events, drifting in and out of the paintings. Secondly the station, a seemingly mundane and even tedious place, where people meet and pass through, with the ever-present clock marking arrivals and departures. I've always found these place stimulating for my work, which often deals with figures in transit.
