About the Artwork

My paintings explore the unconscious dreams, desires and fantasies at play beneath the surface of our everyday lives. This piece is based on my first experience with film and in some ways my introduction to how film seeps into our dreams, desires and fantasies. The film is passed through a prism of memory and emotion to create a more dreamlike scenario. The scene of affinity with the wilderness struck a chord deep inside me and remained as a facet of my deepest fantasies and desires.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Emmet Kierans (b. 1981, Ireland) is a painter based in London. He holds a BFA from The Limerick School of Art and Design and an MFA from The Glasgow School of Art. He has exhibited widely in the UK, Ireland, and internationally, including at The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. His work is in the collections of The Arts Council of Ireland and Trinity College Dublin. His work has been featured in The Sunday Times Culture Section.
