About the Artwork
Miguel’s ongoing Divisions series focuses on pared-down, minimalist compositions & a carefully chosen colour and textural palette. The series is inspired by Miguel’s love of colour & the materiality of the media he works with, and Miguel hopes to transmit that same enjoyment to the viewer. Exploring the expressive possibilities of oil paint is key to Miguel’s practice, and in this series paint is purposely applied in various degrees of thickness, as well as being mixed with impasto medium & marble dust to create Miguel’s trademark painterly textures.
