About the Artwork

"Rise of the Ice Queens" is a multiblock water-based Japanese woodcut printed on Awagami Kozo Select Murakumo Inkjet Paper. It originates from my VR experience created during an artist residency at Moskosel Creative Lab in Lapland, Sweden. I researched Sami traditions at the Ajtte Museum, 3D-scanned Northern environments, and recorded 360-degree videos of the Aurora Borealis to create a virtual world of ice, snow, and illuminated skies. The print is based on an in-game photograph from this immersive experience.
