About the Artwork

'Infinity' plays with perception and the viewer's concept of reality. Defying the conventional assumption of appearance and the nature of the human body, the space becomes divided and concertinaed by the use of reflections: limbs are echoed and multiplied and an ambiguous expression of the human form draws the eye into an enigma of truth. Intensely worked layers of oil paint refer to traditional methods outside and beyond the digital age, brush strokes fluid, raw and emphatically made the human hand.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Judy Clarkson (b. 1964) graduated from Central St. Martin's School of Art in Fine Art in London. Their prizes include The Daler Rowney Prize, New Emergence Art 2025, The Paula Rego Painter Prize, Women in Art 2025, the Beth Hughes Bursary for the New Light Summer Exhibition 2025, the Platinum Award for the Cancer Feminine, 2022, and the Judges Choice Prize in the Chaiya Art Awards 2021.
In 2018, Judy won the Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter Prize. They have also been shortlisted for the John Ruskin Prize, The New Light Art Prize, and have exhibited in Art Evol, Saatchi Gallery.
