Victoria Ferrand Scott

Victoria Ferrand Scott (b.1958) is an abstract sculptor based in North Yorkshire. She was born and brought up in the south but moved north to Manchester to undertake a BA Hons in History of Art (1978) which, (after a period of working in Venice), lead to a career as a picture cataloguer and valuer for Phillips Auctioneers and then Christie’s, covering the north of England. However the urge to make art was always strong and whilst maintaining the day job part-time, Victoria undertook a BTEC Diploma in Art and Design (distinction) at Leeds College of Art (1998), followed by a BA Hons in Sculpture (1st Class) at Bretton College (2002) and then an MA Fine Art (merit) at the University of Leeds (2004). It was at this point that she gave up her career as a Fine Art Auctioneer in order to concentrate on her sculpture practice. Alongside her studio work she has worked as an Artist in Education at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
Concrete is one of the materials that Victoria has experimented with, developing unorthodox ways of pouring it into flexible moulds, informed by research undertaken during a Leverhulme funded Artist Residency in Civil Engineering at the University of Leeds(2010-2011).
Having been elected as a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors and the Yorkshire Sculptors Group in 2009 Victoria has exhibited widely, most recently being shortlisted for The New Light Sculpture Prize and selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2024 she was then Solo Guest Artist for the Sculpture Gallery in Leeds and selected for the Summer Exhibition of the North in 2025. This year she co-curated a sculpture exhibition entitled The Nature of Things at Salts Mill, Shipley near Bradford in addition to exhibiting in shows in Barnsley, Bradford, Sunderland, Helmsley, and the Royal Society of Sculptors Summer Exhibition in London.
