About the Artwork

Dreaming, Still considers the male nude as a site of interiority and self-containment. Drawing on the tradition of the reclining Venus and the Sleeping Ariadne, the painting explores a private, almost onanistic state of absorption, where the figure appears momentarily removed from the world around him. The work is interested in this suspension as a space of potentiality, where what comes next remains unresolved.
