About the Artwork

Breezle Bricks, transforms traditional breezle block patterns into three-dimensional ceramic brick inspired forms by clay extrusion. Rooted in my diasporic experience between London and Morocco, the project explores identity, nostalgia, and a spiritual longing within contemporary contexts. Each incision subtly distorts familiar geometrical archetypes, reflecting a fragmented recognition, a metaphor for diasporic displacement. Every cut and incision into the extruded pieces feels a cut taken from my core and a piece of soul. The work engages with recogniseable geometry, reimagining its presence in today’s world.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Anisa Nachett (b. 1990, London) is a British-Moroccan multidisciplinary sculptural artist. She holds an MA in Architecture with Distinction from TU Delft. Her work explores craft and nostalgia through her diasporic identity. She has participated in residencies in Botswana and Morocco. Her work has been featured in Deco Actuelle and she has an upcoming group exhibition, Bauhaus to Mecca, at Den Bosch Museum in 2025. She leads workshops and is a visiting critic at universities.
