About the Artwork

This work tells the story of my late nani's love for gardening and the outdoors. She stands under a jamun tree, showing the fruits of its labour. I'm interested when we tell stories about migration, what stays and what parts get lost or taken when the storyteller is no longer present. This series is a recollection of all these intergenerational stories we've shared in the most insignificant ways: love is conveyed through show-and-tells, cooking, and the exchanging of memories. This work comes from a larger series I am working on titled 'Ghar Wali Feeling' - A feeling of home.
