About the Artwork
The City series started out as small scale experiments with leftover oil paint, but soon took on a life of its own and is ongoing.
The series is loosely inspired by the urban environment, and is execute in a very free, playful and colourful visual language. Exploring the expressive possibilities of oil paint is key to Miguel’s practice, and in this series paint is purposely applied in various degrees of thickness, as well as being mixed with impasto medium & marble dust to create Miguel’s trademark painterly textures.
