About the Artwork

The work was created as part of my PhD project and dwells on our relationship with nature and my own interpretation of ferality. It is a cast of brown bear claws taken from the specimen at the Tatra Museum in Zakopane that are incorporated into casts of my fingers and toes.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Katarzyna Depta-Garapich (b. 1973, Poland) is a visual artist based in London. She holds a PhD from the Slade School of Art, where she also received her BA and MA. She has been awarded the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage Scholarship (2025) and the Gessel Foundation Scholarship (2023). Her upcoming solo exhibition Feral is in Warsaw in 2025. Her work has been included in the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize and exhibited at the Freud Museum.
