About the Artwork

By repurposing scrap copper pipes from the Hot Wire Extensions studio and copper sheets from a local roofing company, 'Luma' preserves the memory of discarded materials, offering them a second life and a functional purpose.
When copper is exposed to high temperatures, layers of oxidation begin to form, creating a striking and unpredictable patina.
In Luma, this effect is intentionally applied by hand using a direct flame, turning the surface into a vibrant index of transformation. The lamp’s pivoting shade system reveals the core of the object, allowing the user to play with light direction and shadow.

Luma is available in different sizes (Luma and Luma Maior) and types of copper (repurposed or virgin copper). For more details and pricing, please inquire. This listing is for Luma with repurposed copper.

Emilia Tombolesi

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Emilia Tombolesi is an Italian designer based in London whose practice explores material behaviour through hands-on experimentation. Her work balances control and unpredictability, embracing process marks and imperfections as part of each object’s narrative. After graduating from Istituto Marangoni in 2024 with a BA in Product Design, she debuted at the London Design Festival 2025 in two group shows curated by Charlotte Taylor and Slancha Gallery. Her work has been featured in Dezeen, Wallpaper*, Living – Corriere della Sera, and Adorno. Her work blends sculptural presence with functional design and a raw, poetic sensibility.
