About the Artwork

My practice developed through making work in improvised spaces—from printing on a studio floor after graduating to taking work out into the city, using its architecture, textures and rhythms as both inspiration and backdrop. Working through silkscreen printmaking, Subdue is built through repetition and physical action, with the surface
developing through successive layers rather than a predetermined outcome. I embrace chance, material imperfections and the physicality of the process, allowing each stage of making to inform the next. Although grounded in printmaking, my practice extends into
installation and public space, exploring how images can exist beyond the wall and engage with architecture. Whether through print or installation, I am interested in creating work that responds directly to its surroundings. Subdue reflects a way of working shaped by the city—its architecture, surfaces and visual language.
