About the Artwork

I am compelled to compose visual music from the cacophony of thoughts that dwell within, into rhythmic tangible forms. This process isn't only about crafting sculptures; I am extracting a sense of order from the chaos in my unconscious. I transform the abstract into the palpable. Each sculpture I create is a manifestation of this internal music, a harmonious balance of complexity, rhythm, tempo, colour. Sculpting is akin to composing for me, a puzzle-solving endeavour where the most gratifying moment is when disparate elements coalesce into a harmonious whole.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Melissa Vipritskaya Topal is a London-based artist and curator. Trained as a cellist, she later studied at UAL: Central Saint Martins. Her work has been exhibited at DContemporary Gallery, Koppel X, and Hypha Studios. She was a recipient of the Judges’ Choice Award from the Cosimo Emerging Art Prize in 2024. She curates group exhibitions in London and her work has been featured in publications including Fetch London and Made in Bed.
