The Lovers Pub

Framed oil painting, brackets, chains
53 x 50.5 cm

Regular price £1,200.00
About the Artwork

'The Lovers', refers to pubs as spaces for community, a place to meet, fall in love, form friendships and solidify workplace relationships, reflecting on the artist's parents who met in a pub.

The white patio chairs are symbolic to working class English culture, reminiscent of growing up on housing estates. Whilst they evoke a collective nostalgia, they are inserted into their own personal, dream-like space, to sit in conversation over pints. Perhaps there is something romantic and nostalgia about pubs whilst also being addictive and delusive.
