About the Artwork

The constellation of stars, mapped out in snake bones.

This piece tells the story of evolution, from the Big Bang to the formation of highly sophisticated biological structures - vertebrae. The advancement involved billions of physical connections; atoms bumping, molecules colliding. And a series of mistakes, or accidents. Survival of the fittest consists of taking the odd one out with an inborn benefit.

The Lost Way in the title references presumed progress through digital systems, A.I. and processes that deny physical contact and error.
For evolution to persist, we require contact and imperfection, including errors.
