About the Artwork

The artwork presents a shaped wall piece exploring balance and movement, inspired by the intuitive cycle of natural systems. Crafted with woodcuts that are shaped into abstract forms and assembled together. Reinterpreting natural forms into shapes that are interacting to create visual rhythm. Within the shaped work, layers of colours intersect one another to create illusion of depth, playing with the sculptural element of the relief work as well as the painted surface. Flutter could refer to the movement of leaves fluttering or feathers fluttering and dancing in the wind.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jacelyn (Bbblob) Zhen (b. 1993) is an artist with an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art (2025) and a BA in Fashion from London College of Fashion. She has exhibited internationally in London, Singapore, New York, and Ireland. Her work has been featured in the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition (2023). Her publications include Modern Weekly China and Create! Magazine.
