About the Artwork

London 202X — a study of the authoritarian gaze citizens are unwillingly and unknowingly subject to. In the presence of ubiquitous cameras, our bodies (specifically female bodies) are reduced and diminished to walking data extractors, tracked by the mechanical embodiment of government. London 202X reclaims the female body from the city that devours so many of us. Both as photographs and a performance, London 202X is a surreal walk in the city, questioning gaze, authority, identity and visibility; and what they mean for our future freedom.
