About the Artwork

Fairground is a piece about balancing the needs of us all against the tyranny of oppression. The piece – a free standing kinetic sculpture that spins and dips, balancing a target with a show pony – is a response to the crisis in art practice, the impossible need to balance cash with art, becoming a target for oppression whilst one’s head is dreaming of show ponies with pink headdresses.
