About the Artwork

'Listening to the Telescopes' is a painting about the reciprocal act of listening to music in its analogue form, i.e on vinyl, from start to finish. Music is an expression of self, an art form like the novel or a narrative painting, which is often lost completely alien to digital platforms, where popular 'tracks' are highlighted and promoted to receive the maximum number of 'listens' for advertising purposes. But music is art, and the vinyl record - a once dying format - is now growing as a way of connecting listeners to artists.
