About the Artwork
The rhizome modular is my invention, designed to redefine spatial relationships in living areas and galleries. Currently, artwork is treated as separate furniture, distinct from the built environment. I aimed to create a rhizomic form of spatial growth, similar to organic matter, facilitating multiple micro adaptations. Starting from a single piece, like a seed, as more pieces join, a hidden rhythm emerges. The structure expands in any direction without boundaries, centers, margins, or limits, growing more complex over time. Pipework, timber, drawings can be threaded through the entire structure, forming a framework for artworks or platforms, adding complexity. The sculpture becomes a three-dimensional cellular automation, a mathematical concept where cells in a grid change state over time according to rules set by neighbouring cells. This approach allows unique interaction between space, sculpture, furniture, and art. I create and ‘post’ images onto the framework right up until the opening night or during the show. The work becomes contextual, a framework that allows the structure to grow by accretion, deconstructing traditional planning and display methods of white wall galleries.
Please be advised that the price is for the sculpture only, please inquire further if you are interested in the accompanying drawings.
