About the Artwork
My way of working is instinctive and reactive. Sometimes something catches my eye and I have a split second to lift the camera, power it on, shoot from the hip and hope I’ve caught it. Subway Blues was one of those moments, late at night on the New York subway. A man in a turquoise suit with a glowing yellow hat moved through the platform like a ghost. The blur, the colour, the contrast, it all came together in an instant, suggesting a figure caught between moments, echoing the fleeting, transitory rhythm of city life.
