About the Artwork

The Slumped Mountain Man began as a figure in a lino print- curled up on his side and resting. He was conceived in winter, during a slump, but his form was carried through various works into the summer.
This painting was created for a duo-show with Woo Jin Joo during London Gallery Weekend 2025, which explored transformation, mythology and imagined worlds. As summer approached, the Slumped Man gained a guardian who had rolled out of the horizon line. All of my work depicts figures at ease in nature, bodies enveloped by their landscapes, becoming one with their surroundings.
