Julia Clarke

Julia Clarke (b.1970) works with willow, ceramics and mixed media. She states that her work comes from a place of having to make, "like breathing I’ve always needed to make…be tactile, touch, and create in 3D”. She has always been fascinated by the spaces between things, shapes and form, scale, texture, materials and the physical process of making. Inspired by experimenting with materials to try and make something that feels right in the space around her. Sculpture is the language she uses to communicate, to feel connection with others and helps her interact and feel purposeful.
